Update Sept. 9, 2005: Jans is planning a revival of Captain Marbles to be staged at Navy Pier in Chicago spring, 2006. As a member of Chicago's Artists-In-Residence program, I wrote a musical comedy directed by the late Michael Maggio, who would later serve as Associate Artistic Director at Goodman Theatre. Branching into rock and roll, Hugh led a succession of Chicago bands including Wedge. He wrote all the material on the self-titled CD, which made CMJ's Top Ten Most Added Album list in April 1996. Hugh later performed at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, where he has since collaborated frequently with critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Doug Hoekstra Hugh also contributed nine songs including the title track to the One Heart album by Chicago blues belter Vanessa Davis. Soul diva Suzanne Palmer has written more than a dozen tunes with Hugh including Lonely is the NIght which she recorded for the Twisted America label. Shortly before moving to Los Angeles Hugh recorded his 11-song solo debut Work Songs. Recorded at Rax Trax Studios, the CD features guest turns by some of Chicago's finest singers and guitar slingers backing up Hugh on vocals, harmonica and keyboards. | ||
